Our Story
How it began
Hi, I’m Katherine, and together with my beautiful Goldendoodle, Mr Pickles—the official face & heart of the brand—we created Louma.
From a very young age, I have always been surrounded by dogs. They taught me early on that the bond we share with our four-legged companions is unlike any other.
As a creative soul, I was generously gifted some jewellery-making classes. That single experience pivotally started my obsession with creating beautiful, shiny things! It didn't take long for my two greatest passions to collide. My obsession with fine jewellery, combined with my deep love for dogs, is exactly why Louma was born.
I wanted to create a meaningful way to hold onto that unconditional puppy love forever. Our pieces are designed to ensure those precious bonds live on—not just in our memories, but in a tangible, beautiful piece of art you can wear close to your heart every single day.
The Origin of Louma
Before the one and only Mr Pickles, I had another precious and equally wonderful fur baby—Gemma.
The name Louma actually came to life during a late-night kitchen chat with my best friend. We were dreaming about the day we would both start our own businesses and trying to brainstorm the perfect name. Her dog is called Louis, and since he and Gemma shared such a special, inseparable bond, we combined their names to create Louma. We instantly thought it sounded pretty spectacular! Whilst Gemma may no longer be with us, I love to know that she is here for the journey with us- tail wagging-every step of the way!
Coincidentally, we recently discovered that Louma also has Arabic origins as a feminine name meaning "glow" or "light." As we aim for all our products to glow, finding this out made me feel like the name truly was the perfect match for our brand!
